In the summer of 2010 three of my cousins, Janesh, Anmol, and Sarthak, and I set out for Sar Pass trek organized by Youth Hostels Association of India in incredibly beautiful Himalayan Mountain range. The four of us arrived at the base camp in Kasol after a day long bus travel to start the acclimitization routine the next morning. A day later, we started our hike with a mix bunch of youngsters, middle aged men, and a senior chaperoned by a local. Everyday we climbed higher and higher to reach the highest peak at 10,000 ft above sea level on day 4. The sights of snow-capped mountains, star-studded sky, and tiny huts in the valley kept us motivated. On the last day we declined a few thousand feet at a rapid pace to save a day. …
